Dr. Michelle Armstrong orchestrates all education investments at The Pyramid Peak Foundation, which include academics, talent, and health and wellness initiatives for children. Before joining the foundation, Michelle assisted with launching Relay Graduate School of Education’s Memphis campus as its founding dean. Prior to Relay, Michelle worked with Insight Education Group as managing director, leading Shelby County Schools’ teacher effectiveness observation training for all principals, and she also supported the Tennessee Department of Education’s revision of the TEAM statewide principal evaluation rubric and teacher leader guidebook for districts.
With teaching, leadership, and research experience spanning 25 years, Michelle holds a BA in English from Emory University, an M.Ed. in Secondary Education from Harvard’s Graduate School of Education, and an Education Doctorate from the University of Memphis, where her research focuses on understanding humanization amid neoliberal education reform practices. Michelle serves her community outside of work through membership on several local boards and advisory groups, including New Leaders, Peer Power, and Literacy Mid-South. Michelle and her husband have a middle schooler who keeps them on their toes.
